Why monitor CO₂ in a grow room?

Monitoring CO₂ allows growers to know the carbon dioxide concentration in the growing environment. When lighting, temperature, nutrition and other environmental conditions are properly controlled, supplemental CO₂ can help support faster photosynthesis and more vigorous plant growth.

What is the TrolMaster MBS-S8 used for?

The MBS-S8 measures the concentration of CO₂ in the grow room and sends real-time PPM data to a compatible TrolMaster environmental controller.

What CO₂ range can the MBS-S8 measure?

The MBS-S8 measures CO₂ concentrations from 0 to 2000 ppm.

Can the MBS-S8 control CO₂ equipment by itself?

No. The MBS-S8 is a monitoring sensor. It measures CO₂ concentration but does not directly switch a CO₂ regulator, generator or other CO₂ equipment on or off.

What do I need to automatically control supplemental CO₂ equipment?

Automatic CO₂ control requires the MBS-S8, a compatible TrolMaster controller and a DSC-1 CO₂ Device Station. The MBS-S8 measures CO₂ concentration, the controller processes that information and the DSC-1 switches the connected CO₂ equipment on or off according to the programmed settings.

Is the DSC-1 included with the MBS-S8?

No. The DSC-1 is sold separately.

Does the MBS-S8 detect day and night?

Yes. The MBS-S8 has a built-in photocell for day/night detection.

Is the MBS-S8 compatible with Tent-X?

Yes. TrolMaster lists the Tent-X TCS-1 as compatible with the MBS-S8, and the Tent-X technical sheet supports one MBS-S8 CO₂ sensor per system.

What comes with the MBS-S8?

Can the MBS-S8 be exposed to water or condensation?

No. TrolMaster recommends keeping the sensor clean and dry and avoiding water, condensation or foreign substances on the sensor to prevent premature failure.
